The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the housing inflation index rose 0.1% month-over-month in July, accounting for about two-thirds of the overall CPI increase for the month. The food index also rose 0.1% that month, with the index for food consumed outside the home rising 0.3%. In contrast, the energy inflation index fell 1.5% in July.
