Officials say a partner of US energy firm Greenland Energy shipped drilling equipment to the island without local permits and intended to begin drilling this autumn. Greenland's Ministry of Mineral Resources said the required permits cannot be ready before next year and issued a strong warning that similar actions must not recur.
