heat intensity index reached 22.1, the third-strongest since 2008 and in the top
5%, classified as extreme. Futian national basic meteorological station recorded
four consecutive days at or above 35°C; Aug 8–10 saw three straight days of 36°C
or higher — the third occurrence since continuous records began in 1953, tying
the historical record.
