Sources say OpenAI's current annualized revenue has exceeded $40 billion,
roughly double its level at end-2025, bolstering the company's IPO preparations.
Revenue acceleration in recent months is driven by rapid expansion of its AI
programming business (notably CODEX), rising subscriptions, nascent ad revenue
contribution and steady consumer growth. OpenAI is competing fiercely with
ANTHROPIC for enterprise customers; both firms have quietly filed IPO paperwork,
and ANTHROPIC could list as soon as this autumn, potentially ahead of OpenAI.
OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman said July annualized revenue rose
more than 20% month‑on‑month. Demand for AI agents has increased, with flagship
products including CODEX and ChatGPT Work, and OpenAI has cut prices on some
models to respond to ANTHROPIC and other competitors.
