Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan to Establish Political and Military Cooperation Mechanism: The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on August 13 that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan will establish a political and military cooperation mechanism based on the joint defense agreement signed last week, and will deepen cooperation in the defense industry. The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that the mechanism will encompass the defense ministers, foreign ministers, and chiefs of staff of the three countries. Furthermore, according to the agreement, the three countries plan to conduct joint military exercises, and the scope of cooperation may cover joint production and technology sharing in the defense industry. On August 7, the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Mutual Defense Agreement in Saudi Arabia. According to this agreement, an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three.
