Xpeng chairman He Xiaopeng said Xpeng participated in drafting China’s new
mandatory standards for traction batteries and L3/L4 autonomous driving. He said
Xpeng and other new EV makers brought highway-assist to China and overseas circa
2020. With many manufacturers treating driver-assistance as standard and
consumers unable to distinguish capability levels, He called for a more
comprehensive, systematic stricter standard that not only codifies firms'
strengths but identifies and remedies autonomous-driving shortfalls and mid-tier
gaps.
