On the 13th the UN said the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has continued to monitor incursions into Lebanese airspace and Israeli ground military activity in southern Lebanon. Between the 10th and 12th UNIFIL logged 100 airspace violations involving drones and fighter jets and recorded 427 flight tracks, all attributed to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). UNIFIL also observed large-scale IDF ground operations within its declared "area of operations", including heavy armor deployments, engineering works, logistics movements, tactical patrols, force concentrations, and instances of tanks and artillery firing.

In recent weeks, the Houthi rebels have launched a series of the deadliest attacks in recent years, raising concerns that Yemen may be sliding into a full-blown war, while the conflict is spreading throughout the Middle East. Whether these recent attacks are intended to pressure Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government, or to gain an advantage in a potential ground war, remains a key question. The Houthis accuse Saudi Arabia of supplying government forces through the port of Muha and claim that Riyadh and its Yemeni allies are planning an offensive against Houthi-controlled areas. Nadwa Dasari, associate research fellow at the Middle East Institute, suggests these concerns may be fueling the current escalation. Since January, the Yemeni government forces have achieved more unified command and demonstrated stronger air power. The Houthis' goal in the recent escalation is to disrupt the government forces before they are ready, weakening their capabilities and forcing them into a defensive posture. At the same time, the Houthis intend to set the rules for future confrontation, ensuring that any escalation, if it occurs, unfolds according to their own conditions. While a Saudi-led ground offensive is not inevitable, analysts point out that the Houthis have demonstrated over the past decade that airstrikes alone cannot defeat them. Yemen's mountainous terrain makes ground warfare extremely difficult, and Saudi Arabia lacks the desire to become embroiled in another protracted war. Therefore, the likelihood of a Saudi-backed Yemeni government offensive is higher than Saudi Arabia directly becoming involved in a large-scale ground war.
