One month before the election, Prime Minister Kristersson's trailing
centre-right coalition announced a committee to review state operations and curb
fiscal waste. Chaired by Director‑General Nordland, the panel will identify
savings, propose optimized fund use and recommend revocable activities; an
interim report is due March next year and a final report in January 2028. Backed
in parliament by the far‑right Sweden Democrats, the government says it could
reallocate up to SEK 50 billion within the 2026 budget.
