Former US ambassador to Syria and White House adviser Mark Kinsberg told Al
Jazeera that Trump’s decisions are driven primarily by domestic politics
pressure and the midterm elections rather than long-term strategy. He said
Tehran understands Washington’s internal dynamics, is prepared for a protracted
campaign and is closely watching US polls. Kinsberg said Iran is 'testing' Trump
and betting the US will ultimately abandon its demands and that Iran will secure
sanctions relief. He added that rising US public frustration leaves Trump
politically unable to admit failure.
