The National Bureau of Statistics said employment is broadly stable. The average
urban surveyed unemployment rate for Jan–Jul was 5.2%, unchanged from Jan–Jun
and year-earlier. In July the urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.2%, up 0.2
percentage point MoM, a seasonal increase. Surveyed unemployment for local hukou
and migrant workers both 5.2%; surveyed unemployment for migrant
agricultural-hukou workers 4.9%. The urban surveyed unemployment rate across 31
major cities was 5.2%, up 0.2 ppt MoM. National average weekly working hours for
enterprise employees were 48.2 hours.
