India's silver imports have restarted after a new licensing regime caused earlier disruption, with some traders and banks obtaining permits subject to special import conditions. Traders imported about 89.81 tons of silver via the India International Gold and Silver Exchange in August after six consecutive months without imports. Metals Focus chief advisor Harshal Barot said supply has 'definitely improved' versus July and estimated roughly 400 tons of import licenses have been approved. Increased supply has narrowed the domestic premium to international prices, though the 30-day average premium remained around $4/oz as of last Friday.
