China's National Bureau of Statistics said at an Aug. 17 State Council press
briefing that efforts to curb 'involution-style' competition and to govern
capacity in key industries are continuing to show results. Supply‑demand has
improved in some sectors: July prices for lithium‑ion battery manufacturing and
photovoltaic (PV) equipment and components rose 8.9% and 2.8% YoY, respectively.
Authorities said next steps will focus on expanding domestic demand, optimizing
supply, cultivating new growth drivers, sustaining the comprehensive crackdown
on 'involution', ensuring supply and stabilizing prices, and keeping industrial
goods prices on an even footing.
