Iranian foreign ministry spokesman BAGHAEI said on the 17th that the US military
presence in the region has caused environmental damage amounting to tens of
trillions of dollars, a process he characterized as spanning roughly 50 years
rather than the past six months or year. He said advanced weapons, repeated
exercises and regional wars have inflicted large-scale damage that has worsened
over the past two years due to US and Israeli strikes on facilities along the
Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, and that Iran will prioritize seeking
compensation for those losses.
