The Lebanese Presidential Palace stated that the Lebanese President welcomes the parliamentary initiative and petition calling for an extension of the UNIFIL's (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) presence in the south. Our preferred option is to extend UNIFIL's mandate; if that fails, our second option is to adopt a plan, within the necessary legal framework, to ensure the continued presence of international forces in the south.
