On Aug 17 Shanghai Electric Group delivered and bunkered 8,000 tons of
China-produced green methanol at Shanghai Yangshan Port to a CMA CGM freighter,
marking the green methanol sector’s move into batch deliveries. The fuel was
produced at Shanghai Electric’s Taonan integrated wind-power–biomass green
methanol demonstration project in Jilin, using corn-stalk biomass and
wind‑generated green hydrogen. The product does not rely on fossil or coal
feedstocks and reduces full life-cycle carbon emissions by over 65% versus
conventional methanol.
