Asian equities were set to open lower after US losses as rising oil prices
raised inf concerns and hopes for an end to the US‑Iran conflict dimmed. Futures
for Australia, Japan and Hong Kong fell on Tuesday. Market participants are
focused on oil and government bond yields for signs of a sustained inf shock
that could push up Fed rate expectations and pressure high‑valuation stocks. US
10‑year Treasury yields rose above 4.7% and remain elevated despite last week’s
subdued inf data, a persistent headwind for investors, said Matt Maley, chief
market strategist at Miller Tabak+Co.
