On the Aug. 18 FY2026 results call, BHP CEO Brandon Craig responded to market reports linking the group to NexGen Energy’s Saskatchewan uranium project, saying uranium at BHP is primarily a by‑product of Olympic Dam and the company represents about 5% of the global uranium market. He said BHP’s near‑term priority is managing existing businesses and concentrating investment on four core commodities, with a particular emphasis on copper growth projects in South Australia, Argentina and Chile. Craig said BHP will only reassess expanding its uranium exposure after those core investments are delivered. He declined to comment on speculation about exploring other Canadian uranium projects but said the group will continue to study potential opportunities in other commodities and is satisfied with its four core categories.
