The National Financial Regulatory Administration on Tuesday said it supports
mainland insurance funds investing in Hong Kong-listed ETFs via the
Shanghai/Shenzhen–Hong Kong Stock Connect. HKEX welcomed the move, saying it
will facilitate cross-border asset allocation by mainland insurers, boost
liquidity in Hong Kong’s ETF market, raise Stock Connect’s attractiveness and
reinforce Hong Kong’s role as an international financial centre. HKEX noted
Mainland insurers can tap Hong Kong’s broader product set and risk-management
tools to optimize allocations and returns.
