Axios, citing an Israeli official, reported Israel struck the Abu Zuhur airbase
in northwest Syria to prevent Turkey from expanding military facilities in the
area. A Turkish official denied Turkish forces were stationed at the base and
accused Israel of fabricating a pretext for the attack; the United States said
it was deeply concerned.
