According to South Korean media reports, less than three months after reaching a wage agreement with the company, Samsung Electronics' union has once again taken to the streets. The Donghaeng Union, mainly composed of employees in the Device Experience (DX) division, announced a large-scale rally outside Samsung's headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, demanding that the company issue 1,000 treasury shares to each employee. The union's core demand is for additional compensation for DX division employees. The union believes that each DX employee should receive 1,000 Samsung Electronics treasury shares. The union stated that the wage agreement reached in May resulted in an excessively large performance-based pay gap between the DS division, responsible for semiconductors, and the DX division, responsible for smartphones, televisions, and home appliances, exacerbating feelings of relative deprivation among DX employees. Therefore, the union is demanding separate additional compensation from the company. If 1,000 shares are granted to each of the 49,345 DX employees currently employed, a total of 49.345 million shares would be needed. Assuming Samsung Electronics' share price is approximately 250,000 won per share, the total share capital would exceed 12 trillion won.
