A 26-year-old Massachusetts resident was sentenced on the 18th to six years and
one month in prison after pleading guilty in March to two weapons charges, the
Justice Department said. Prosecutors say he appeared at the U.S. Capitol on Jan.
27, 2025 carrying a folding knife, two homemade incendiary devices and a lighter
and told officers he "wanted to turn himself in." The visit coincided with the
Senate confirmation vote on Bessent's nomination; AP reported Bessent was not at
the Capitol when he arrived.
