Hamas said on the 19th that an Israeli airstrike at midday on Gaza city police
headquarters killed nine. The Israeli Defense Forces said the strike targeted a
Hamas military commander. Hamas said most of the dead were police and staff,
with more than ten civilians wounded, and called the attack — which it said
followed US envoy Jared Kushner’s communications with Israel about advancing a
ceasefire — “especially enraging,” accusing Israel of “deliberately undermining”
diplomatic efforts and seeking to restart military operations in Gaza.
