Samsung Electronics plans to expand and add P5-1 and P5-2 at its Pyeongtaek semiconductor complex, upgrading existing two-story wafer fabs to three-story facilities to maximize capacity amid an AI semiconductor and memory supercycle. The site-plan amendment requires review by the Gyeonggi provincial governor and final approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Industrial Site Policy Review Committee before taking effect.
