South Korea's SK Hynix is reportedly seeking to build a memory-chip manufacturing plant in Miyagi prefecture, Japan, marking the first production base by a South Korean chipmaker in Japan. Investment could reach tens of trillions of won. Industry sources said SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won recently visited the area. SK Hynix said any site with necessary infrastructure could be a candidate but no decision has been made.
