The U.S. on the 20th announced a new round of sanctions on Cuba, which Cuban
President Miguel Díaz‑Canel condemned and said Havana will resist. Díaz‑Canel
said Washington issues a weekly blacklist on Thursdays that targets individuals
and entities for serving Cuba or opposing the U.S. blockade. Foreign Minister
Bruno Rodríguez accused U.S. Secretary of State Rubio of deliberate targeting
Cuban firms to damage the economy and impede the government’s provision of basic
services. Cuban officials said the sanctions have notably obstructed shipments
of food, medicines and medical devices, most of which are procured by private
small and micro enterprises.
