[Retail Company Results Show US Consumers Are Still Spending, But Are More Focused on Value for Money Amid High Prices] US consumers haven't stopped spending, but they are feeling increasing pressure. Walmart (WMT.N) reported its slowest sales growth in over six years on Thursday, primarily dragged down by its pharmacy business. This week, Target and Home Depot also reported sales growth, describing consumers as resilient, willing to open their wallets as long as they find the right products and prices. Walmart CFO Rene said, "We are definitely seeing consumers making trade-offs." He added that people are buying fewer items per shopping trip. "With rising fuel prices, the pressure on consumers has increased compared to the beginning of the year."
