Citadel Securities founder Ken Griffin told clients in a letter that the firm executed more than 100 block trades totaling over $4 billion to remove in excess of 80% of the overall risk from the portfolio it bought from Leopold’s Situational Awareness fund. Griffin said the trades required coordinated work by banks’ trading and prime-broker teams. He also confirmed Citadel’s flagship multi-strategy Wellington Fund returned 5.94% in July, its best monthly performance since 2022.
