According to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), in the week ending August 18, speculators increased their net short positions in 5-year U.S. Treasury futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) by 33,349 contracts to 1,274,105 contracts. Speculators also increased their net short positions in U.S. Treasury futures on the CBOT by 39,405 contracts to 219,012 contracts. Furthermore, speculators increased their net short positions in U.S. ultra-long-term Treasury futures on the CBOT by 19,941 contracts to 346,724 contracts.
