Tropical storm Gaenari (Typhoon No.20) formed in the northwest Pacific at 14:00
local time on Aug. 22, centered about 320 km NNE of Taipei (26.2°N, 124.5°E).
Maximum winds near the center are 8 on the Beaufort scale (18 m/s) and central
pressure is 998 hPa. Seven-level wind radii: NE 80 km, SE 100 km, SW 50 km, NW
50 km. The system is moving rapidly northwest at 35–40 km/h with little expected
change in intensity.
