Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Rezaei warned Gulf states not
to join U.S. economic sanctions against Tehran, saying Iran would treat the
interests of any such countries as legitimate targets for retaliation. He said
that if neighbors joined the U.S. economic campaign, the Persian Gulf and the
Strait of Hormuz would be left "without oil" and Iran would strike other Gulf
oil export routes. Rezaei also claimed President Trump took the economic action
at the urging of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, saying Trump was initially
skeptical but was persuaded to trial measures for two to three months before
deciding whether to extend them to six months. He added that the enemy seeks to
sow division and reiterated Iran’s unity.
