Aug 22 — Nio founder, chairman and CEO Li Bin told the 2026 China Chief
Economist forum at Fudan School of Management that 2026 is a pivotal year for
new-energy vehicles as competition intensifies. He said the China auto industry
is entering four stages: an increasingly brutal final competitive phase;
accelerated BEV penetration; a shift from brand chaos to brand clarification;
and a move from single-point to systems-level competition. Li said the next two
years will be critical in determining which automakers can keep pace and which
will be left behind.
