Syria's interim government foreign minister told Refinitiv on the 22nd that
Damascus expects to soon resume negotiations with Israel on a security agreement
intended to secure Israeli withdrawal from Syrian territory. He said talks have
has been stalled since the outbreak of hostilities involving the US, Israel and Iran
earlier this year but are expected to restart, and that the US is pressing
Israel to return to dialogue. He added the interim government "currently does
not trust Israel" but prioritises halting Israeli strikes and seeks
"confidence-building measures." Contacts were severed after an attack on the Abu
Zuhur airbase on the 18th of this month.
