At a routine briefing, spokesperson Lin Jian said China has already published details of the Beijing meeting between Vice Foreign Minister Miao Dewu and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi and had no further comment. Lin said China is closely monitoring the situation in the Gulf and is actively promoting mediation and talks, and is prepared to continue efforts under President Xi’s four‑point proposal to help restore peace and stability in the Middle East. On whether China objects to US efforts to isolate Iran, Lin said Beijing has previously explained its position.
