China’s Hainan meteorological observatory says Typhoon Zitan is moving eastward,
maintaining strength, and is expected to pass close to or make landfall near
Changjiang–Lingao on Hainan’s northwest coast today before turning north toward
the Guangxi–Guangdong coast. On 25th, Lingao, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongfang and
Baisha is forecast to receive 80–120mm of rain, with localized totals above
150mm. Beibu Gulf and western Hainan waters expected winds force 8–9, gusts
10–11. May disrupt shipping and ferry services in Beibu Gulf and western Hainan,
affect port operations, offshore fishing and oil/gas platforms, and hit coastal
tourism and local logistics; inland flood and reservoir risks could affect road
transport and supply chains.
