China's Erenhot rail port has handled more than 26,000 China–Europe freight
trains via the Central Corridor as of Aug. 24, 2026, railway authorities said.
Erenhot is the corridor's sole port. Since the first train in 2013, cumulative
throughput hit 1,000 by 2018, 5,000 by 2020, 10,000 by 2022, 20,000 by 2025 and
26,000 now. Year-to-date through Aug. 24 there were 3,157 trains carrying 3.0038
mln tons of cargo, up 10.2% and 27.0% YoY respectively. The time to add 1,000
trains has shortened from five years for the initial 1,000 to under three months
most recently.
