Tencent said a recent report that its Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) is
reorganizing its AI games unit is inaccurate and that claims of a new department
were a misreading. The report had said IEG would merge ARC Lab under IEG CROS
(Tencent Games tech platform) with the game AI engine team and expand the unit
to 400–500 staff. Tencent said the game-technology line already houses a game AI
engine team and has been recruiting AI specialists externally; the team focuses
on AI-driven efficiency across game development and operations and on gameplay
innovation, providing reusable technical capabilities and solutions.
