At the 2026 Fusion Energy Conference on Aug. 25, China Fusion Energy Co. said it
will lead a Yangtze River Delta innovation consortium—including Shanghai
Superconductor, Eastern Superconductor, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai
Electric Nuclear Power Group, Supermag New Energy, Energy Singularity, Hangyang
Group and Yixi Technology—to develop high‑temperature superconducting (HTS)
high‑field tokamak magnets to meet requirements of China’s Huanliu‑4 tokamak.
The group aims to establish an HTS high‑field magnet R&D and engineering system,
build the first 25T HTS high‑field magnet R&D and test line by 2028, and
complete a prototype magnet by 2030.
