An Amazon spokesman said the consumer electronics industry is facing large increases in memory and storage component costs; after absorbing those cost rises as long as possible the company recently adjusted pricing across its product lines and will continue to run intermittent promotions over the next year.

Iran’s National Energy Optimization Organization warned of a “serious” gasoline shortage: current daily supply is about 15 mln liters short of the 135 mln liter daily need. The Financial Times cites the U.S. blockade as a cause, saying shortages signal growing economic pressure from the war. Officials say the subsidy system has worsened the situation: subsidized retail prices run about 15,000–50,000 rial per liter while the government’s buy price is 1,300,000 rial per liter. The presidential office said it plans to cut subsidy quotas, but a final pricing decision has not been made.
