Iran and Oman said they plan to establish a temporary joint maritime corridor
through the Strait of Hormuz and agreed to implement a joint sea‑mine clearance
project, citing recent conflict that has altered conditions in the waterway. The
countries outlined a phased implementation framework and will continue technical
talks aimed at creating a permanent corridor, agreeing future management,
traffic information exchange and related maritime and security services. They
said joint dialogue with Persian Gulf littoral states is necessary and stressed
compliance with applicable international law and coastal states’ sovereign
rights.
