CME Group said the first trade in its U.S. zinc futures was executed on CME Globex on Aug 20 between Glencore and Trafigura for September delivery. The exchange said it adjusted the contract in March 2026 to a U.S. duty-paid delivery model at client request, creating an exchange-traded, centrally cleared tool to manage U.S. zinc price volatility and improve hedging for producers, consumers and intermediaries. Kim Henniger, CME’s global head of metals, said geopolitical fragmentation is reshaping supply chains, making regional prices signals are more important, and the new contract is intended to help market participants manage U.S. zinc risk exposure.
