Imperial College London said its candidate rhinovirus vaccine APL-10456 produced
encouraging preliminary Phase I results. A single dose was well tolerated and
elicited immune responses against the three major rhinovirus groups. The
randomized, placebo-controlled Phase I enrolled 144 healthy volunteers; the
first stage tested three single-dose levels in 18–54-year-olds, assessing
safety, tolerability and immunogenicity. A second stage is evaluating a two-dose
regimen in adults 55 and older, with additional data expected in Q4.
