President Trump declared a national emergency targeting on Wednesday
foreign-made equipment in the U.S. power grid, saying rising electricity demand
makes the system a target for hostile governments. At a regular briefing Foreign
Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said China opposes broadening the national security
concept to suppress foreign firms and urged the U.S. to provide a fair,
non-discriminatory operating environment for companies.
