According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, a spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated, "The claim by some circles that the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff visited Iran as a special envoy of the US President is misleading and inconsistent with the facts, as his visit took place purely within the framework and context of Pakistan's continued mediating role." The spokesperson added, "The unilateral US sanctions against Iran will have negative consequences, and Pakistan does not consider these sanctions to be in accordance with international law. The economic war against Iran is part of the stalemate between Tehran and Washington, and therefore these issues must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue."
