The 18th typhoon of the year, Typhoon Saudel, strengthened from typhoon to
strong typhoon at midday. At 17:00 its center was about 320 km east of Wenzhou,
Zhejiang (28.5°N, 123.9°E). Maximum winds near the center 45 m/s (force 14);
central pressure 950 hPa. Wind radii: force ≥7: 250–300 km; ≥10: 100–120 km;
≥12: 50–60 km. Saudel is moving west‑southwest at 10–15 km/h, with intensity
steady or slightly increasing. Forecast landfall between Wenling (Zhejiang) and
Xiapu (Fujian) on the morning to midday of the 28th with landfall winds 35–45
m/s (force 12–14, strong typhoon/typhoon level); strength expected to decline
after landfall.
