An Iranian industry association chief told state news agency IRNA that despite a
US maritime blockade Iran has no domestic commodity shortages, but is facing
sharply higher prices driven by logistics disruptions and longer, costlier rail
and road routes. He said the war has placed heavy strain on the economy.
Washington’s new round of sanctions announced on Monday pushed the ribbon to a
record low against the US dollar.
