On Thursday evening local time, Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated in an exclusive interview with Al-Manar TV that Iran and Oman have agreed to open a temporary shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz for vessels to pass through. Iran has prepared a list of conditions to submit to the United States. Currently, Iran is temporarily allowing vessels to pass through a temporary, limited shipping corridor in the middle of the strait, and future maritime traffic will depend on the progress of the understanding between Iran and Washington.
A reporter from Pakistan's Express News wrote that this could help clear a major obstacle hindering the conclusion of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). "I have always believed that the agreement between Iran and Oman on the Strait of Hormuz could provide a potential opportunity for all parties to break the deadlock," the reporter wrote. "This development comes after a week of intensive diplomatic activity in Tehran, during which Tehran hosted high-level delegations from Pakistan, Oman, and Qatar."
