On Thursday evening Supreme National Security Council secretary Rezaei said in
an Al‑Manar TV interview that Iran and Oman have agreed to open a temporary
shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz for vessels to enter and exit.
Rezaei said Iran has prepared a list of conditions to submit to the United
States and is currently allowing passage via a temporary, limited corridor
through the center of the strait; future maritime traffic will hinge on progress
toward an understanding with Washington. Pakistan's Express News said the move
could clear key obstacles to a Tehran‑Islamabad memorandum of understanding. The
announcement follows a week of intensive diplomacy in Tehran, during which it
hosted senior delegations from Pakistan, Oman and Qatar.
