Trump signed an executive order launching a US Space Academy to serve the US
Space Force, NASA and the civilian space industry, modeled on West Point and the
Naval Academy to attract and train top talent. He said the site will be
announced later and indicated Senator Ted Cruz has lobbied for a Texas location.
Trump reiterated his space agenda — noting the creation of the Space Force in his
first term — and flagged a planned 2028 Mars mission that would deploy a
nuclear-powered interstellar vessel.
