Equity fund speculators increased their net short positions in CME S&P 500 futures by 35,462 contracts to 302,971 contracts.

Tehran Stock Exchange composite index rose 132,000 points to 6.518 million, while the equal-weight index gained 31,000 points to 1.833 million. Fameli and Fars together added about 44,000 points to the index. Shapna was the busiest stock with turnover of 700 bln Toman and a c.3% price rise. Market capitalization climbed to roughly 18.6 tln Toman. Total turnover was 12.3 tln Toman, with retail turnover of 6.7 tln. Actual investors withdrew 768 bln Toman from equities, pre-emptive rights and equity funds and 1.665 tln Toman from fixed-income funds. 81% of stocks advanced and buy orders locked at the close totaled 13.5 tln Toman. By net flows among actual investors, pharmaceuticals recorded the largest inflow at 9.5 bln Toman.
