The China New E‑commerce Development Report (2026) says the sector posted steady
progress in 2025 with improvements in quality and efficiency. A more favorable
development environment and improving governance underpinned steady scale
expansion and a rising contribution to economic growth; digital intelligence
technologies are driving industry upgrades, while livestreaming and rural
e‑commerce formats diversified channels and helped stimulate domestic demand.
Cross‑border activity is shifting from commodity exports toward coordinated
brand‑and‑ecosystem overseas expansion, and regional development is showing
graded progress and increasing specialization. The report says during the 15th
Five‑Year Plan period new e‑commerce will continue to play a key role in
cultivating new productive forces, smoothing economic circulation and advancing
high‑quality growth.
